In addition to a strong general practice, she specializes in the treatment of what has been called 'Urban Ailments' - stress, emotional disorders, sleep irregularity, allergies, digestive troubles, chronic fatigue, addiction, detox, women's health, and overall health & wellness balancing. Sonya's clinical experience includes a variety of diverse settings such as the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic, Jewish Home for the Aged, ACTCM Community Clinic and the Auricular Acupuncture Clinic in San Francisco.
Sonya is the owner of Golden Folk Wellness in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, a unique community space dedicated to the growth of one's optimal well being. She is a California Board Certified acupuncturist and herbalist, licensed to practice as a primary care provider. She received her Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in Anthropology and World Arts & Cultures, and went on to receive her graduate degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. In addition to her growing private practice, she often volunteers at local community acupuncture clinics, co-owns a medicinal chocolate boutique with her sister, and has been recently featured on daytime talk shows such as Ricki Lake.
